The World Affairs Council of Harrisburg announces its 1st Annual Poetry Contest in celebration of the MLK Day of Service 2013. Judging will be by a panel of recognized poets and community representatives. Judges’ decisions are final. All entries should reflect peacemakers/peacemaking, non-violent efforts for change, highlights of people coming together to resolve differences, and social justice locally, nationally, and/or internationally. There will be three 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place winners from various area high schools. ALL THREE finalists will recite their bodies of work at the Martin Luther King, Jr. Day of Service Event being held at John Harris High School, January 21, 2013. ALL THREE finalists will be invited to the World Affairs Council of Harrisburg’s Martin Luther King, Jr. Gala Event to be held at the Dixon University Center in Harrisburg, Pa.
