What is student scholars?
The Student Scholars Program from the World Affairs Council of America offers World Affairs Councils to nominate one college student for the opportunity to attend the World Affairs Council of America’s National Conference in Washington, D.C.
While in Washington, the students also attend Scholar Day, an exclusive excursion into DC that includes visits to think tanks, embassies, international organizations, and more. Through these experiences, students map their global futures and take important next steps in their education and careers.
Students attend the national conference free of cost and are provided with lodging and transportation.
NATIONAL CONFERENCE DATES: November 19 – 21, 2025
Eligibility
- Currently-enrolled full-time undergraduate student at a U.S. community college or university
- Every major is eligible.
- Applicants must show anactive engagement with global affairs or an intent to pursue an international career, or both
Those not eligible include:
- High school students
- Undergraduates at colleges in Greater DC
- Graduate students
- Prior nominees
