A Letter from our President and CEO

Dear Associates and Supporters of the World Affairs Council of Harrisburg,

We need more peace in the world — at home and abroad. That’s why the World Affairs Council of Harrisburg sponsors an international peace symposium each year and recognizes those who have been working for peace with our “Peacemaker in Our Midst” awards.

If you haven’t. registered for Saturday’s International Peace Symposium at Elizabethtown College, we’re keeping registration open until the event gets underway in the Susquehanna Room at 10:30 a.m. This year’s theme is “People Under Siege” and Dr. Joe Hewitt, Vice President of the United States Institute of Peace, will offer keynote followed by a distinguished panel of experts.

We also will present our 2022 Global Scholar certificates to the high school students that completed the summer internship and enrichment program. So, come support our youth, enjoy the beauty of Etown’s campus as well as a great lunch and stimulating discussion of the most pressing issues of our day.

And if you haven’t joined us yet, why not do so today?

Our team is helping keep our community healthy and safe in providing factual information about COVID-19 and vaccines.

We also partnered with Temple University to promote vaccinations in our community. Getting vaccinated against COVID-19 will be one of the best ways to protect yourself and your community. The more people who get vaccinated against COVID-19, the better it is for everyone. By stopping the spread of COVID-19, we can keep businesses, schools, and other venues open. Stopping the spread of COVID-19 gets us closer to the end of the pandemic.
