2026 Great Decisions Opening Session: China and the US!

Created by the Foreign Policy Association, Great Decisions is America’s largest discussion program on world affairs, bringing communities together to explore the most pressing global issues of our time.

We kick off the 2026 Great Decisions series with an in-depth discussion on U.S.–China Relations, taking place just after the World Affairs Council of Harrisburg (WACH) returns from China. This timely conversation will provide firsthand context and insight into one of the most consequential relationships shaping the global order.

Relations between the United States and China remain strained amid ongoing tariffs, rapid military modernization, and increasing pressure on Taiwan. As tensions persist, questions loom large: Does President Trump have a coherent China policy? Will tariffs on rare earth minerals prove effective? And what strategic options does the United States have moving forward?

Join us for a thoughtful, moderated discussion examining these critical questions and what the future may hold for U.S.–China relations. The event takes place on February 12th at 6:00 PM in the HACC Cooper Center.
