A leader of the local Bah’ai faith community, Behzad Zandieh was nominated for his tireless work in interfaith activities, including the annual interfaith musical celebration, the annual walk against racism on City Island and his participation in the annual Sept. 11 commemoration. Behzad Zandieh has been active in interfaith organizations and activities in the Harrisburg region. He has led organization of the annual interfaith “Music That Brings Us Closer to God” program, as well as the annual Sept. 11 interfaith service and the annual event that seeks to bring together people of different races, ethnicities and cultures.

PEACE ISLANDS INSTITUTE
Peace Islands Institute, nominated for its advocacy of international peace and understanding and interfaith initiatives. The organization has served as a sponsor of several WACH events, including the 2014 and 2015 Women’s Conferences. The Peace Islands Institute’s mission is to facilitate a forum of mutual respect and collaboration, both welcoming and accepting varied viewpoints and voices with the intent to develop original and alternative perspectives on vital issues that our society is facing, generate solutions to these issues, support successful practices, thus promoting education, friendship and harmony and acting as an island of peace for all peoples in a society of different ethnic, cultural and religious backgrounds.
