Cedar Cliff High School Team Shines at National Academic WorldQuest Competition

Cedar Cliff High School’s varsity Academic WorldQuest team, led by advisor Mrs. Angela Kamps, proudly represented Pennsylvania and The World Affairs Council of Harrisburg at the National Academic WorldQuest competition in Washington D.C.

On Saturday, April 20, these talented students put their knowledge of world affairs to the test at the prestigious United States Institute of Peace, competing against top teams from across the nation. Amidst the competition, Cedar Cliff’s team seized the opportunity to explore the rich cultural and historical tapestry of Washington D.C., visiting iconic landmarks such as the United States Supreme Court, The National Museum of American Diplomacy, and the sprawling expanse of the National Mall.

The event was not just about testing academic acumen; it was also a chance for our students to engage with prominent leaders in world affairs. They had the privilege of listening to addresses by esteemed figures such as LeAnne Howard, Special Advisor NATO National Security Council; JP FeldMayer, Director for NATO and European Affairs; and Joseph Sany, Ph.D., Vice President, Africa Center U.S. Institute of Peace.

After ten rounds of intense competition, Cedar Cliff emerged with an impressive score of 68/100 points, securing a commendable 16th place nationwide. This remarkable achievement speaks volumes about the dedication, intellect, and teamwork exhibited by the students. Congratulations to Caleb Masshardt (captain), Rory Gannon, Rayna Johnson, Jackson Kane, and Mrs. Angela Kamps (advisor) for their outstanding performance.
